Leaving Garmisch-Partenkirchen

We spent a relaxing 3 days in this ski resort town - home of the 1936 Winter Olympics. First two days were rainy and overcast but on our last day the sun shone and the mountains were beautiful. The tallest mountain in Germany, the Zugspitze at 2964 meters, overlooks the town.

On our way to the Romantic Road, we stopped at Schloss Linderhof, the third palace built by Ludwig II and the only one completed in his lifetime. He built this one as an attempt to copy Versailles I his admiration for King Louis XIV.
