Freiburg

The hotel where we had made reservations warned us that there would be no entry to the city until after 5pm due to the Freiburg marathon. Sure enough just as we approached the old city at a few minutes before 5, the police were just removing their blockade. Our hotel was in the old city which is pedestrian-only - but the city's parking garages offered very convenient access. Freiburg has a big university (22,000 students) and is very picturesque with old architecture, cobblestone lanes and walkways. We climbed to the top of the clock tower in the Munster, and we're rewarded with amazing vistas and close-ups of the gargoyles.

  1. I love the scissor stone walk. I am sure I can do this too.
