Koblenz

We headed south and a bit east to Koblenz, looking to explore the 65 kilometers of the Rhine valley that UNESCO has designated as a world heritage site. Koblenz is located at Germany's Deutsches Eck (literally German corner), where the Rhine and Moselle Rivers meet and flow north.

The fortress above overlooked Germany's corner until Napoleonic troops leveled it in 1801.
