Konstanz and The Bodensee

Swiss countryside

We headed north from Geneva, traveling through Swiss cantons with different official languages. For part of the trip an exit was designated as "sortie", while further north they were "ausfahrt". We were headed for Konstanz, a German city just over the Switzerland border, located on a large lake on the Rhine River. The lake is bordered by three countries (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) and is known as Lake Constance by the Swiss and Bodensee by the Germans. The lake is at the northern foot of the Alps and surrounding countryside is quite beautiful.

Imagine, seeing the queen shopping as she celebrates her diamond jubilee!

A public mural below commemorating the citizens' revolt in Konstanz.
